 1. thumbtack

The college student uses thumbtacks to post pictures on his college dorm bulletin board.

The thumbtack was the precursor of the pushpin.


2. thunder

The thunder clouds are stronger and bolder with the summer rains. 

The thunder and lightning frightened the cats last night causing them to sleep under the bed.


3. threads

The turquoise threads were unraveling off the vintage silk dress.

The multi-colored threads were available at the fabric store.


4. theme

The theme of the play was based on The Wild West and the California Gold rush.

Since they were high school sweethearts, their theme song was "Let Me Call You Sweetheart".


5.therapist

The therapist specializes in children from elementary to middle school.

The psychology convention was designed to help the therapist with new methods of discussion.


6. theatrics 

The comedian used animation and various methods of theatrics to get his message across

to his audience.

The woman's theatrics seemed insincere as she spoke to the policeman after running a stop sign.


7. thaw

I had to order take away dinner because I neglected to thaw the steaks.

The snow on the Rocky Mountains does not completely thaw until July.


8. thrill

The thrill of the roller coaster keeps the family coming back to Disneyland.

The motorcycle riders club relish the thrill of riding to the Grand Canyon.


9. thermostat

The thermostat is always set at 70 degrees fahrenheit in the insurance office.

We had to adjust the thermostat to reduce our monthly utilities' bill.


10. thimble

My grandmother collects ceramic thimbles but she never uses them when she is sewing or darning fabric.

When I hand stitch the hems on my dresses, I use the same thimble I have had since my teens.

Tongue Twisters are a good way to practice and improve pronunciation and fluency.  They can also improve accents with repetition of sound. 1. A Simile is a literary device that compares two things in an interesting and vivid way. Words such as "like" and "as' are used to compare two ideas. 1. He was as quiet as a mouse As he entered his father's hospital room, he was as quiet as a mouse. 2. smelling like a rose After winning the lawsuit, she walked out the court house smelling like a rose and waving her hands in the air with joy. 3.
