Lesson 30 Words that begin with ST...

 

1. stair- The stair at the doorway is difficult to pass.


2. steer- The steer is part of the new cattle at the ranch.


3. stab- The knife is too dull to stab the roast beef.


4. stag- The stag was running through the forest with the other deer.


5. stern- The teacher had a stern look on his face because the students didn't do their homework.


6.stagnate- The water in the pond is stagnate because the river is not running into park area.


7. stabilize- The paramedics were trying to stabilize the man in the ambulance.


                    The structure of the house is being stabilized with new beams under the foundation.


8. staggered- The people were thirsty and hungry as they staggered into the restaurant for food and water.


9.staffroom- The staffroom in the office is newly decorated to give the employees a pleasant experience during lunch and breaks.

10. stalemate- The businessmen reached a stalemate during negotiations and decided to forego until the following morning meeting.


11. stampede- The horses stampede across the meadow to reach the ranch.


12. standout- The young boys standout at school because they wear slacks and dress shirts.


13. stargazers- The stargazers enjoyed the view of the Big Dipper in Joshua Tree desert.

      Stargazers are my favorite flower, I enjoy their beauty and fragrance.

14. steamboat- The steamboat floats down the Mississippi River everyday for tourist to view and

 board.

15. stranded- We were stranded in the shopping mall parking lot because of traffic.

On our vacation to Acapulco we spent most of our evenings walking along the beach strand.


16. stoic- The teacher had a stoic demeanor on the first day of school to show us that she was serious about her classroom's guidelines.


17. stem- The stem of the rose is covered in thorns.

18.. stable- The patient remained stable after his open heart surgery.

The stable has four thoroughbred horses ready for the race today.

19.stammer-  The nervous young man began to stammer as he spelled out the word in the spelling bee.

20. stamina- I have improved my stamina by 50% because of my daily walks.

21.standby- We will standby the neighbor's house until they return from a family emergency.

The standby actor finally got to play the lead role in the play because the star of the show caught Covid 19.

22. starlet- The young starlet will perform in the new television show featuring teens from Los Angeles.

23.stealth- The cat's stealth movements made it difficulty to catch.

The new stealth bombers flew over Washington DC as a show of protection.

24. stinger- The wasp's stinger was sharp enough to pierce the skin of the human's arm.

25. sting- A natural remedy for a bee sting is to apply mud on the wound.

A Simile is a literary device that compares two things in an interesting and vivid way. Words such as "like" and "as' are used to compare two ideas. 1. He was as quiet as a mouse As he entered his father's hospital room, he was as quiet as a mouse. 2. smelling like a rose After winning the lawsuit, she walked out the court house smelling like a rose and waving her hands in the air with joy. 3.
